Recycling Computers.

We probably have lots of old computers in the house. We also gone thru the cycle of just throwing the stuff to the rubbish man. Or just put in outside the house and the friendly junk man on this bicycle will remove it for you. Then there are people who keep or hoard the stuff. Old monitors, hard disk and cpu. Sentimental value. My first computer story comes to play. Here if you know who done recycling computers as a business then you can send to them to make some money. But most of the time we just donate it. We never ask them how them are going to get rid of the stuff. If they are just taking what they need and throw the rest to the garbage then that WRONG. From Google I found a list of companies that do this business environmentally as they claimed. I asked my brother about this he came out and said how much I would pay to take their old computers. I decide that I put it out on a web site and tell them I will collect it for them and dispose of it environmentally and will show them the proof. Even Hard Disk has to be dispose properly. And a picture take to show that the data has been destroyed. It to cut the disk inside. So please think when you want to throw those old computer parts, think how are they been dispose?

Plastics Bags.

How much plastics bags do we get in a day? Where do they go? Rubbish bin or store somewhere to be used again?

I been at the supermarket on Satursdays where they won't provide plastics bags and we need to use our own bags. I think this should be extended to all the days. Looking at the issue about plastics bags, maybe should start a campaign abount it.

There a guy who goes around asking about old newspapers and car batteries. Why not plastics? There is a demand for plastics canniters but not plastics bags. I need to research why not?

Rice

Due to flood in Thailand and Cambodia. we here in Malaysia will have shortage of rice. It been reported that we import 30% of our rice intake. It was also reported that we have a stockpile of rice to last for 6 months.

The next day, we have solve the problem. Vietnam will supply to us. Then and expert also quiry why can't we plant our rice to meet our demand. Next we also told that we rely on only one strain. Again we playing so easy and not planing ahead.
Also not planting rice with use of hybrids. This can easily solve our shortage.

Mission is to not waste rice. Do you part to stop wastage. Eat less rice.

Recyclying at Tesco,

Went early to Tesco yesterday morning. My Wife and I bought some things for the house. As it was Saturday, plastics bags were charged 20 cents. We instead bought a bag to put the things in it. I wondered how many people realised that it was no plastics day. Or the campaign still was going on. Only in my state Selangor.

Later went to 7-eleven. I was told because it was a public holiday plastics bags will not be charged. Go figure.

Klang River clean-up to start soon

KLANG: The first phase of the RM50bil rehabilitation and cleaning up of the Klang River is about to get under way.

Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the initial stage, costing an estimated RM2bil, would begin in the royal town soon.

He said the state had selected four private companies, including a British firm, to work on the project.

The firms are TSS-Mako Engineering Sdn Bhd, GJI Engineering and Construction, Wessex Water I-Berhad Consortium and DPZ Asia Sdn Bhd.

Khalid said the initial project would comprise the building of a RM1bil water treatment plant and development along the riverbank, also estimated at RM1bil.

“That project, along the 21km stretch of the river, will take between three and four years to complete before it proceeds to other areas like Shah Alam and Subang Jaya,” he told reporters at the Klang River carnival in Taman Pengkalan Batu here yesterday.

The carnival, which was also attended by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, was held as part of the state’s efforts to promote rehabilitation and development of the river.

The Klang River clean-up, which is an initiative among the state’s economic stimulus packages, is expected to take 15 years to complete.

Earlier, Sultan Sharafuddin flagged off a cross-country run that was held in conjunction with the event. Some 5,000 people took part in the run.

The Ruler also led the way by signing a pledge to protect and treasure the Klang River.
